KNIFE BRIDE release new single ‘crucify’

Announce ‘sorry about the plague’ EP

will be out 24th April

See them on tour with Calva Louise in April / May

KNIFE BRIDE have today unleashed their new single ‘crucify’, which is exemplary of the Brighton quartet’s knack for marrying razor sharp riffage with pop sensibilities. The track comes as the band reveal that they’re self-releasing a brand new EP ‘sorry about the plague’ on 24th April, which also coincides with the next opportunity to catch their drama live and in the flesh on tour with Calva Louise in April / May.

Vocalist Mollie Clack says ‘crucify’ “is a conversation with myself – a ruthless interrogation of a past version of me. A public trial of someone who made mistakes that I’ve struggled to forgive. The song attempts to expose how easy it is to obsess over appearances – to decorate the house and call it a home, while the foundations quietly crumble beneath us. At its core, it’s a reflection on self-destructive behaviour and the ways we sabotage parts of our lives. The line, “life gave me lemons, I made poison,” aims to capture the idea that sometimes we don’t just mishandle what we’re given – we actively ruin it. There’s also a nod to Paramore in the lyric, “I’m in the business of destroying everything,” referencing Misery Business – a song the band stepped back from performing because of its more problematic lines. That reference is intentional. It’s a reminder that we can be flawed and messy and that reckoning with that truth is part of being human rather than self-censoring.”

‘sorry about the plague’ is set to ramp up KNIFE BRIDE’s story-telling in a big way. The previously-released  ‘alone at the altar’ set the tone with a dramatic world of sound evoked within the conceptually-inspired track. Mollie said “‘alone at the altar’ marks both the first edition and the first invitation to meet the bride herself. The vision behind this single was to truly bring her to life in all her chaotic glory – flawed, unhinged, yet undeniably vulnerable. She’s narcissistic, nihilistic, sensational, and shamelessly braggadocious, but there’s a curious streak in her, a fragile glimmer of innocence she still clings to. The title “alone at the altar” embodies a woman possessed: possessed by desire, by destruction, by the need to hurt others and herself. It’s a visceral exploration of self, told through the eyes of a merciless yet hopelessly romantic bride.”

‘alone at the altar’ rode high in the Kerrang! Chart, Metal Hammer hailed it as “irrepressibly joyous”, and Rock Sound said “the track collides irresistible pop melody with sharp metal riffs”. The undeniable attitude of the protagonist in ‘alone at the altar’ was foreshadowed by KNIFE BRIDE’s recent performance at Maida Vale for BBC Radio 1 Introducing Rock with Alyx Holcombe, which saw them take on a cover of Gwen Stefani’s ‘What You Waiting For’, as well as performing a haunting version of recent single ‘WORTHY’. Both tracks received love over the airwaves at BBC Radio 1, Kerrang! Radio and Primordial Radio.

KNIFE BRIDE – Mollie Clack (lead vocals), Sean Windle (guitar, backing vocals), Sean Millsopp (drums, synth), and Craig Glynn (bass) – have developed their own immersive sound (coining the term “nu-gothika”), which incorporates a wide range of inky influences including Spiritbox, Kate Bush and Bring Me The Horizon and Karnivool. They fuse these with cinematic fantasy to create character narratives and explore human experiences.

Most recently seen on SVALBARD’s final tour, KNIFE BRIDE have also been special guests for the likes of Japanese metal band HANABIE, Graphic Nature, WARGASM, Scene Queen, Vukovi and SKYND in venues all across the UK and Europe. They’ve slayed stages at Download Festival and 2000trees too.
