30th August 2024: Rising Irish indie-folk band Kingfishr have today released their vibrant new single ‘I Cried, I Wept’. Listen here.

The latest release shows a new side to Kingfishr, the song was born out of rousing, guitar-led melodies and captures the raw intensity of the trio in a room together. ‘I Cried, I Wept’ is a punchy, energetic gem that see’s the band add a lively indie anthem to their rapidly growing and impressive back catalogue.

Speaking on the track, the band said “It represents the feeling of burying some piece of yourself in order for the rest of you to live on, and then wondering if that sacrifice will actually make a difference. If it doesn’t, then where are you?”

The trio played eight sold out headline shows across the UK and Ireland earlier this year. The run of dates concluded with two shows at the 3Olympia Theatre in Ireland which was recorded and released as an 11 track live album. ‘Live From Dublin’ was placed at number 5 in the Irish Album Charts and Number 1 in the Irish Independent Charts. Formats available include signed Black Vinyl, Signed Coloured Vinyl and Signed CD. Listen here. Buy here. Watch The Road To Dublin (Mini Documentary) here.

Kingfishr are currently playing a summer festival season across Europe that includes Glastonbury, TRNMST, Isle Of Wight, Reading and Leeds, All Together Now, Sea Sessions, Down The Rabbit Hole and Rock Werchter. They have also just finished a 14 date tour supporting Tom Walker, and recently supported Snow Patrol at Thomond Park Stadium. Later in the year Kingfishr will play another massive UK and Ireland headline tour, and have already sold 20k tickets. The tour will see them play seventeen venues including London’s Shepherd’s Bush, making it their biggest run of headline shows to date. Starting in Ireland, the UK tour consists of shows in Bristol, Manchester, London, Liverpool, Sheffield, Newcastle, Glasgow, Leeds and Birmingham. Tickets here.

Formed while members Eddie (vocals, guitar), McGoo (banjo), and Fitz (bass) were studying engineering at university in Limerick, the Irish trio lean into their heritage with traditional instruments and poetic songwriting. Kingfishr’s music is hugely cinematic, they pride themselves on deep textures and a grand sonic atmospheric nature, with influences ranging from Hanz Zimmer to Ben Howard. They have racked up over 35 million streams to date, with three of their previous releases being performed on The Independent’s live music session Music Box.
