Ketos is a melodic thrash metal band hailing from Belfast, Northern Ireland. Formed in January 2017 after the release of their debut E.P. Rise, Ketos quickly made their mark on the club scene across both Northern and Southern Ireland, where their powerful grooves and energetic live performances have earned them a loyal following. Their debutE.P. received glowing praise from Uber Rock, with the review describing it as “roaring and slashing with unbridled savagery,” and their first live show was hailed as “tighter than the mud on a gravedigger’s shovel.”
The band’s name, inspired by the ancient Greek mythological Kraken, reflects their musical style—a dynamic fusion of classic thrash and modern influences that creates a sound both crushingly heavy and refreshingly unique. Ketos’ music has drawn comparisons to bands like Testament, Killswitch Engage, early Trivium, and Arch Enemy.
In April 2019, Ketos signed with Hostile Media to release their debut full-length album,
First Strike. The LP was met with positive reception from critics and fans alike, packed with crowd favorites that showcase the band’s evolution and relentless energy.2023 saw former By Conquest Or Consent guitarist Michael McVea join the ranks on bass
and the band getting back to rehearsal and writing.
2024 sees the first single release (Overload) from the band (with accompanying lyric video) in 5 years,
having been on hiatus since the pandemic. With 2025 being set for the return to the live arena and further planned releases.
