Gothenburg-based post-metal trio KAZEA is set to release their debut album, I. Ancestral, on March 21 via underground label Suicide Records. Seamlessly weaving elements of post-rock, neofolk, and sludge, the album takes listeners on a mesmerizing sonic journey through themes of heritage, pain, and redemption. Ahead of the album’s release, Decibel Magazine premiered the band’s new single, “Trenches”, commending the band’s immersive sound: “KAZEA offer up a chilly, bleak musical landscape, punctuated by tense guitar thrum and understated vocals.” Watch a lyric video for “Trenches” here. The band had this to say about this new track featuring Gina Wiklund from Black Birch: “We are so glad that Gina accepted to be a part of this song and her performance really made it come to life in a way that exceeded our expectations. The song is about internal and external conflicts intertwined with poor decision-making, establishing a feeling of despair and self loathing.” Watch a video for the album’s leading single “Wailing Blood” at this location. Formed by ex-Orochen and Hellsongs members, KAZEA masterfully crafts dark, evocative soundscapes, where raw guitar melodies, rhythmic nuances, and haunting vocals converge. Several tracks feature old recording samples to heighten the emotional depth, while guest vocalists Gina Wiklund (Black Birch, GASP) and Oskar Tornborg (Wormwood, Circular Ruin) add even more intensity to the record. Pre-orders are now available at this location. “KAZEA is an outlet for dark thoughts and feelings accumulated throughout life. I. Ancestral is the first of several releases sharing a common tonal language—though we always aim to push beyond genre boundaries,” the band shares. |
