Los Angeles, CA (December 17, 2025) – Australia’s Karnivool released the stunning “Opal” earlier this month and now have an epic video to accompany the track. “Opal” is the third single from the quintet’s highly anticipated new album In Verses, out February 6, 2026 via Cymatic Records / The Orchard.
The video was directed by Adam Rule and produced by Gemma Rule from their Rhythm Films studio collective.
“We wanted to have the painted animated world in this clip to feel akin to the album cover art in some way, keeping the same tones and palette,” says the band. “When Adam and the Rythm guys suggested this approach, it clicked with us as the sleeping giant idea was something that stuck from the very first writing sessions through to the final version here – it’s got a bit of power as well as beauty to it.”
The majestic “Opal” follows the frenetic “Aozora” and “Drone,” released earlier this summer.
Ten tracks that journey collective feelings of frustration, catharsis, and a rediscovery of identity, In Verses not only provides a fitting moment of reintroduction for long-time and casual Karnivool fans but for newcomers, the new album marks a striking gateway to a body of work built on an intense love for the craft.
Working with longtime producer and collaborator Forrester Savell, Karnivool began to see the final form of In Verses become clearer in 2024, with the band entering the album’s tracking phase in early 2025. Overcoming their own confusion and frustrations with the process was a crucial element of this album’s completion – within In Verses itself, the listener can hear the band tear its own walls down in pursuit of finding the light again.
The vitality of the band has never felt more energised; each member brings an invaluable signature to the combined sound that has a core vision, sharpened and primed for whatever lies ahead. An homage to the band’s evolution and a response to the jarring shift in personal and social environments since their last release, In Verses positions Karnivool in their healthiest creative space to date.
