Alternative rock band Kanadia have announced their third album The Fire That’s Tearing Through Our Home for release on September 26th. It is available to pre-order on vinyl, CD and digitally now here.

The album showcases an abundance of dreamlike rich soundscapes, massive hooks, and haunting melodies throughout its expansive 50-minute journey examining the fragility and beauty of human emotion.

This is demonstrated in the propulsive pensive anthem and brand new single ‘Too Late Now’. The song balances between delicate guitar parts and powerful indie riffs, lush harmonies and thunderous choruses, conveying the contrasting dark emotion among beautiful periods of bright clarity felt throughout the track. Watch the poignant video out now here.

Regarding the single vocalist, guitarist and songwriter James Bettis says, “‘Too Late Now’ came out of me fast — one of those songs that felt more like an emotional release than something I “wrote”. It explores regret, identity, and the weight of choices, asking how far we keep pushing ourselves before it becomes too much. There’s a deep personal undercurrent for me in this one — about being a musician, dealing with anxiety and depression, and mourning a version of myself I’ve lost along the way. I wanted the verses to feel exposed and fragile, and the choruses to feel like letting go. It’s a song about holding on and having to accept that some things can’t be undone — that sometimes, it really is too late now.”

‘Too Late Now’ follows the release of lead single ‘Going Nowhere’, a bold soaring track that once again demonstrates the masterful use of musical space and atmosphere Kanadia deliver in the new album among its deep lyrical themes.

The Fire That’s Tearing Through Our Home finds Bettis soul-searching about his place in life; reflecting on the past, the present, and the unknown while dealing with severe anxieties, yet approaching these themes in a new way to previous records as he explains, “Overall, even though there are darker subject matters, I think the album feels more positive; there’s an acceptance which is different for me, because normally it’s always been quite a negative take. I feel this is a cleansing of the previous record, a more positive take; a light at the end of the tunnel… almost.”

Significant growth and progression ripples throughout Kanadia around the new record. Now with the addition of new bassist, Brazilian-born Everton Barbato, the band are completed with Melissa Marshall (synth/keys) and Tim Lucas (drums), and this new sense of unity has fed directly into the new album. A lineup change born out of trauma has created one of the most beautiful songs on the record, and dictated the title of the record itself, with the stunningly intense title track closing the album.

Regarding the song Bettis says, “That’s probably the most personal song on the album. It was written when I was at an absolute low and the band was in that really bad spot. I just love the phrase, “the fire that’s tearing through our home”, because I just felt like the home was the band and it was all being ripped apart. I was using imagery to talk about how things had gone to shit and didn’t want it to, I want to hold on to the pieces.”

The Fire That’s Tearing Through Our Home has been recorded at Evolution Recording Studios in their Oxford hometown, produced by Willie J. Healey guitarist Chris Barker and mixed by Tom Leach (Lewis Capaldi, Pa Salieu, Spiritualized) at Snap Studios, London.

Ahead of the album release Kanadia are touring the UK in support of Black Foxxes this month, they have also been announced to perform at Riverside Festival (July 19th) and Together Again Festival (July 25th). The band celebrate the launch of the album with a show at O2 Academy Oxford on September 5th and have more live dates to be announced soon.
