British singer-songwriter JP Cooper released his first new album in five years, SHE, via Island Records in February 2022.
Speaking more about the album release, JP says:
“I can’t believe it’s been four years since the release of my debut album…I’m still amazed at how it was received and how many people it has reached. They say your second album is the hardest to write, maybe that’s why it’s taken me so long to finish, but the process hasn’t been all that tough. After such a successful first album it would be easy to feel the pressure to deliver again, but I’ve been shown such consistent love by the folk that listen to my music that I’ve not felt it…I’ve definitely grown as a person and as an artist during these years and I think that you’ll be able to hear that in the record.
I decided to name the album “SHE” as a tip of the hat to all of the women in my life who have delivered me some of the most necessary challenges and given me so many opportunities to grow…from my mum who I lost when I was a child, to growing up with four sisters, to the mother of my eldest son, to my wife Lauren…I’m grateful for all of the lessons, however difficult they were to process…I’m so lucky to have had these people in my life.
I could waffle on about what the record sounds like but I’m hoping that if you’re reading this, you’ll find the time to give it a listen. I can only hope it reaches as many people as the first and I can’t wait to get out and play it live for you. Until then here “SHE” is.”
The album includes his recent breath taking single, “Need You Tonight” featuring the one and only, Ray BLK which has gained over 4.5 million streams and was added to the BBC Radio 2 playlist. Further tracks include his infectious upbeat track “Call My Name” and gospel-tinged track “Holy Water”. All singles were also accompanied by music videos that followed the story of a father and daughter’s relationship, as well as gospel and acoustic versions. The full track listing for the album can be found below.
JP Cooper has graced two of the biggest and most enduring hit singles of the last few years; the Jonas Blue’s memorable “Perfect Strangers”, which Cooper co-wrote, and his inescapable radio hit “September Song” (which has racked up over 750 million streams worldwide). Cooper also teamed up with Sigala on R3HAB’s new single, “Runaway” and Emily Burns’ new version of her song “Is It Just Me?” which also reached a Top 10 position on the iTunes chart. The Manchester born troubadour has an incredible 1.2 million ADJ Global album sales, an extraordinary 4.5 billion total global streams, fuelled by his devoted 11 million monthly Spotify listeners. In addition to over 120,00 radio plays across 250 radio stations and sold out UK and European tours.
