DATELINE: April 14th 2026 Joe Stump’s Tower of Babel, the hard rock quintet who bring the finest European ingredients to their no-nonsense rock ‘n’ roll, have unveiled the video for their Ritchie Blackmore-inspired track ‘Alone In The Desert’ in tribute to the legendary guitarist’s birthday. The song is featured on the band’s latest album Days Of Thunder. To listen and order a copy, visit the link here
The mysterious and hazy groove of hip-swinger ‘Alone In The Desert’ is a smoky backbeat dragging you into its soulful swagger. The track casts a spell of vintage sounds with ultra-fresh and vibrant sensibilities that will transport you back to the Hammersmith Odeon and the days when unabashed hard rockin’ talent, power, colour, and flare were celebrated and venerated.
“’Alone In The Desert’ is composed and crafted in the true spirit of the iconic Dio-era Rainbow masterpieces ‘Stargazer’ and ‘Gates of Babylon’,” comments founding member and guitar virtuoso Joe Stump. “I wanted to create something epic and grandiose with that Ritchie Blackmore ‘snake charmer’ induced Eastern flavor. I also wanted the listener to feel transported back in a time machine and feel what it was like to be watching early Rainbow live at the Hammersmith Odeon in London or The Beacon Theater in New York. A period where track times and solo lengths weren’t so heavily monitored and music fans actually listened to entire albums. How fitting that this video is being released on Ritchie Blackmore’s 81stbirthday. A celebration of the man himself and his immense influence on hard rock and heavy metal, and of course on me. Happy Birthday, RB”

Joe Stump’s supreme six-string shredding skills are known throughout the rock and metal scenes, both as the lead guitarist of Alcatrazz and as the shred specialist associate Professor at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, and having torn new earholes with their 2017 debut Lake of Fire, Stump & co take it a step further and higher with 10 glorious slices of riff-driven, Rainbow/Deep Purple styled anthems on Days Of Thunder.
Along with the soaring vocals of Jo Amore, the tight-fist-drumming of Mark Cross, the multi-dimensional Mistheria (aka The Maestro) on keyboards, and Nic Angileri nailing down the rhythms on bass guitar, Stump has once again prevailed in bringing heavy, energetic, yet gloriously melodic music to the table with a style and panache rarely seen in 2026.
“A thunderous salvo of unapologetic, straight-ahead hard rock and heavy metal” — Metal Rules
“10 tracks which are finely handcrafted – Joe Stump is a versed and experienced songwriter who has the understanding for arrangements,
solo and balance. Listen to Days of Thunder and you know what I mean, really powerful and banging, a metal track garnished with a wonderful guitar solo and all his band colleagues are superb, especially Jo Amore with his powerful voice.” – Rock It
“To find a suitable singer for the great songs on Days Of Thunder wasn’t probably easy but Stump found Jo Amore and hit the jackpot. A very successful debut and everyone hopes that there’ll be a follow up with the same line-up” – Legacy
“Jo’s great voice, Mark’s wonderful playing and The Maestro himself – everything fits perfectly” — Darkstars.de
“After the short and dark doom Instrumental intro ‘Dominium’, ‘Rules of Silence’ is rocking bad ass but then comes the title song ‘Days Of Thunder’ and a thunderstorm breaks loose. And you can hear that Joe is influenced by Rainbow and Dio
… a thoroughly successful album which inspired me to listen to Joe Stump’s solo albums. I am totally infected and this record is basically Yngwie Malmsteen in metal!” – Break Out
“A real successful record and hopefully there is another album coming …” – Legacy
