Following the reveal of his upcoming performance at
RADIO 1’s BIG WEEKEND 2024, rising London-born vocalist and troubadour
JARKI MONNO shares his new single—and future summer classic—
‘CHARLIE,’ out now on
Marshall Records. Fans can stream the new single
HERE.Jarki’s latest offering explores the ill-fated emotional rollercoaster of a one-night stand and unrequited affection; the vocalist explains, “It’s about a one-night stand where the tables turn, and you’re hooked on a feeling. It’s the realisation that this person doesn’t want any more to do with you once you’ve become invested. You can’t get them off your mind, and the thought of letting go becomes harder, wondering if there was something there.”
Speaking on his imminent appearance at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, the vocalist adds, “Being asked to perform at Big Weekend is a moment that, as an artist, you dream of for years”, contemplates Monno. “Growing up, I would walk around the kitchen with a pepper shaker as my microphone and practice my imaginary performance, soaking up the audience. So now, playing Big Weekend and representing BBC Introducing is an absolute honour, and I’m even more grateful that the festival this year is next to my hometown. This is a pivotal moment I’ll remember forever.”
