Formed back in 1985, JANE’S ADDICTION are a world renowned, much loved, hugely ahead of their time classic American rock band from Los Angeles, consisting of vocalist Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Eric Avery. Founded by Farrell and Avery, following the disintegration of Farrell’s previous band PSi Com, Jane’s Addiction’s first release was the stunning, self-titled live album ‘Janes Addiction’ (1987), which lead to two studio albums, ‘Nothing Shocking’ (1988) and ‘Ritual De Lo Habitual’ (1990). The band’s initial farewell tour, in 1991, launched the first Lollapalooza which has since become a perennial alternative rock festival. The band have broken up and reformed (once in 1997 with Flea taking over bass duties for Avery on a one off tour, then in 2001 with Martyn LeNoble and later Chris Chaney on the bass), and in 2003 released the hugely acclaimed ‘Strays’ album, before dissolving again the following year. 2008 saw the band reform and tour the world and in 2011 they released the brilliant ‘The Great Escape Artist’ album (with Chaney on bass again). They have since then continued to play shows and remain active, when in 2022 Eric Avery returned to the group ahead of a joint tour with The Smashing Pumpkins. |
