Jamie Lenman releases new album ‘Puke’ & video for ‘Sludgehammer’

Jamie Lenman has released his new album Puke, which is out now and available exclusively on Bandcamp where fans can listen or ‘pay what you want’ to download.
Lenman has also released the new video for the crushingly heavy track ‘Sludgehammer’, which features footage of the multi-instrumentalist recording at The Chapel in Ash Vale.
About the reason to release Puke as a Bandcamp exclusive, Lenman says, “When I put ‘Not Likely’ on Bandcamp in April for pay-what-you-want, I made more money than any other single I’ve ever released, and actually more than some of my entire albums. All of that goes straight back into making more art, so I’m very much hoping that by putting the whole of ‘Puke’ on that platform under the same terms, I might be able to fund a larger, more focussed project with the proceeds. Whether you join the Patreon for a quid or send fifty pence to the Bandcamp, it all goes in the same pot and it all means the same thing: more music from me.”
With Puke, Lenman took a more simplistic and raw approach to the writing and recording process, which naturally gave the songs their edgier sound. Lenman explains, “I made this album completely by accident and really, it’s not an album, although it is unified by the fact that nothing took more than a day to make, and I didn’t do more than three takes of anything. That method lends itself to a punkier, more aggressive sound, so it does have a certain accidental cohesion. I spent a lot of time really crafting my last album, and this is a response to that process.
As always, treading his own path, unbound by genre or convention, and scratching his creative itch whenever possible, Lenman recorded Puke over a two-year period, guided by impulse and inspiration whenever they struck. Having stepped back from constant touring and releasing to focus on his thriving fan club via Patreon, Puke is Lenman’s first taste of new music since 2023’s EP Iknowyouknowiknow and 2022’s acclaimed full-length album The Atheist.
“This entire project, from the actual sessions to my train fare and even the sandwiches I bring with me, has been funded by the subscriptions from my Patreon. That’s revolutionary for me, a totally new way of working without the pressures and expectations of a traditional label-artist setup and has resulted in my falling back in love with the studio.
“It was never my intention to use those funds to make a new album, but I found I had a small sum left over from paying the bills, so I was able to use it for that purpose and here we are. I rely on my Patrons and they get the best of everything – not just first dibs on all the new material, but unheard demos, artwork, videos, everything. It’s a total game-changer for me”
2026 sees a welcomed return from the creative powerhouse, which following recent performances at the Alt Escape and supporting post-hardcore heroes Texas Is The Reason, includes an appearance at Arctangent Festival on Saturday 22nd August.
