Following their recent sold out and critically acclaimed UK tour, JAMES have released the orchestral version of one of their most loved songs, SOMETIMES, taken from BE OPENED BY THE WONDERFUL, their new double album in celebration of their 40th Anniversary, released via Virgin Music on 9 June.
The album is a collection of some of James’ most loved and rare tracks, reimagined with a 22 piece orchestra and eight piece choir. It was written and recorded at Blueprint Studios in Manchester, orchestrated and conducted by Joe Duddell with the ORCA22 Orchestra led by Andra Vornicu, and features the Manchester Inspirational Voices choir directed by Wayne Ellington.
The James Lasted tour concluded at the Royal Albert Hall earlier this month, calling at some of country’s most historic venues, including the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and the Birmingham Symphony Hall. Tickets for the tour sold out in a record time of 6 hours.
The band will play two further unique shows this summer with full orchestra and choir. On 10 July James headline The Odeon Of Herodes Atticus, a Roman Theatre on the south slope of the world famous Acropolis in Athens, one of only a handful of rock acts to play the historic venue. They will also play a headline set at Latitude Festival, performing as special guests on the Sunday afternoon at midday, a slot especially created to honour their 40th Anniversary.
One of Britain’s most enduring success stories, JAMES have released sixteen studio albums, selling over 25 million copies, with their recent run of Top 5 albums proving to be a golden era for the band. All The Colours Of You, released in 2021, was their most critically acclaimed in many years, preceded by Living In Extraordinary Times in 2018, and Girl At The End Of The World, which narrowly missed out on the top spot to Adele in 2016.
