Deep into a career which has included two #1 albums, a host of hit singles and a BRIT Award, and James Morrison is making some of his most personal and authentic music to date with the new album ‘Fight Another Day’, which is out October 3rd. After spending five weeks on the Radio 2 playlist with the record’s title track, he now takes the next step towards the album with the new single ‘Little Wings’. Listen HERE.
‘Little Wings’ is timeless soul in the very best of traditions, with James’s voice simmering with heartfelt emotion and expression, complete with heavenly, hymnal backing vocals courtesy of Andy Platt (Young Gun Silver Fox) and one of James’s childhood idols, Connor Reeves. Its serene vibe is elevated by another affecting touch, with a harmonica solo inspired by the great Stevie Wonder. Its lyrics are just as positive as James celebrates the simple joys of family life.
James says, “This song was inspired by the joy my daughters bring me every morning, and the timeless music of Stevie Wonder, whom I’ve been listening to a lot recently, and throughout my life. It’s a heartfelt tribute to both Stevie and my daughters — capturing the warmth, love, and inspiration they give me. It’s one of my favourite tracks on the album.”
‘Little Wings’ joins the Radio 2 airplay hit ‘Fight Another Day’ and ‘The Man Who Can’t Be Loved’ in previewing the upcoming album. The three songs show the spectrum of emotions that James explores throughout the set, which doesn’t shy away from facing life’s challenges and struggles – but ultimately overcoming adversity leads to fresh hope and happiness.
The ‘Fight Another Day’ album is available to pre-order / pre-save HERE. All album bundles purchased from his official store include a signed lyric sheet of the record’s title track.
Last week James announced details of an in-store tour consisting of acoustic sets and signing sessions. Having sold-out almost immediately, the run has been extended with an additional five events – tickets for which are now available HERE. He will also embark upon a headline tour in September which is sold-out except for Glasgow, with remaining tickets available HERE.
