May 30 2025 – Today, the indie alternative artist isitjosh, released his highly anticipated debut album A Collection of Short Stories About the Heart. Along with the news, he released a visualizer for his intimate track “Typical” featuring Kellin Quinn. Stream the album now and watch the visualizer here. “I wrote ‘typical’ the day after coming out of an overnight hospital stay, and my lyrics reflect that. Things felt hopeless, like a ‘fix’ didn’t exist for someone like me. Kellin’s verse was so crucial: He brought in a hopeful, positive message of self-acceptance through the struggle, and took this story from ‘I’m broken’ to ‘I am ME, and that’s ok’,” shares isitjosh. To commemorate the album, he will be performing a hometown release show on June 1 in his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska at The Waiting Room. If you can’t catch that one, he will be heading to the East Coast to support Lake Drive’s U.S. tour in New Jersey and New York City. On Friday, June 20 he will be visiting The Sanctuary and later that weekend on Sunday, June 22 he will be playing in New York City at the Mercury Lounge. It tells the story of two lovers struggling to keep their long-distance relationship alive, facing the reality that some things can’t be undone, and some things can’t be solved with just a phone call. “I didn’t set out to tell a story with this album, I just wrote songs as life happened. I was falling in love, chasing dreams, starting over in a new city. Everything felt exciting and new. When I wrote the first song, I had no idea the next two years would become the hardest, most turbulent times I’ve ever faced. This record truly became what the title says: a collection of short stories straight from my heart, written as they happened. Almost like a journal that I’m finally ready to share,” adds isitjosh. His previous singles off the record include the introspective track “can’t take back” – an emotional and narratively driven pop-punk track exploring how hard it is to be in a long-distance relationship. Earlier this year, he also released “GATEWAY DRUG” and “people pleaser.” His new album features major players in the alternative music space such as Kellin Quinn and it was produced in collaboration with cmfrt (co-writer, touring guitarist) and sayvenus (co-writer, touring backup vocalist).
