Introducing Callas: a bold and cathartic force in the realm of post-rock and experimental metal. New EP ‘Days’ released 26th July.

“Phenomenal… There is a rawness that permeates the instrumental side of the band, but it contrasts so well with the dreamy melodic style of vocals. ‘Days’ is really strong track that oozes glorious gloominess.” (10/10) – GBHBL

“Cork’s Callas sets the bar high with their intense new single ‘Days’.”  Puremzine

Comprised of seasoned musicians Dom Murphy (vocals, guitars), Cormac Shanely (bass), Ruairi Lynch (production, guitar) and Evan Prendergast (Drums). Callas brings together former members of the acclaimed post-rock group ‘Ealadha’ and producer Ruairi Lynch from ‘Bantum’ driven by a collective desire to push the boundaries of heavy and experimental music.
Callas recently released their mind bending single, the EP title track ‘Days,’ accompanied by a visually striking music video created and directed by Aodhagan O Riabhaigh.

Hailing from Cork, Ireland; Callas crafts an ambient soundscape that’s both heavy and otherworldly on their new EP, ‘Days.’ This release embodies a dreamlike quality, featuring textures that fuse a diverse array of influences. It’s a masterful juxtaposition of light and dark, exploring profound themes such as loss, death, despair, rebirth, and the transcendental forces of nature through its lyrical content. Throughout the track list there’s a cathartic journey filled with moments of melancholy, hope, and a profound sense of time designed to take listeners on a transcendental experience. Callas consistently aims to capture those chilling, spine-tingling moments, creating sounds that seem as if they emanate from another planet, making ‘Days’ not only catchy but deeply immersive throughout.

The new EP is essentially a collection of songs showcasing the band’s fearlessness and desire to meld together different genres. Dripping with drama and majesty, the three tracks weave between themes of loss, fear and defiance.

EP Tracklist:

1. Days
2. Sunlight
3. Porous

About The Songs – By Dom Murphy:

Days is a panoramic snapshot of where Callas is right now and easily deserves to act as the backbone for the upcoming EP. It’s a sprawling song that blends together a potent mix of drama and melancholy wrapped up under a dreamy soundscape. It has a radiance and energy to it that we are really happy to have captured during the recording process.

Sunlight is a grandiose dirge dealing with the juxtaposition of light and dark and accents how sadness can be amplified during periods of light. Like the eeriness of a funeral on a sunny day.  This track builds with its mantra to an outpouring of emotion towards the latter half, with soaring vocals inviting the band to whip up a cathartic whirlwind of drama and emotion.

Porous has a stark beauty to it, with drips of icy piano, haunting vocals and textures flowing over a mesmerising guitar line. The stripped back sound makes quite a departure from the guitar orientated tracks on the EP and really illustrates the experimental nature of the band.

‘Days’ by Callas is out 26th July.
