Ingrid Andress heightens anticipation for her next chapter as she shares the new single ‘Catch 22’. The single and the recent ‘Footprints’ are her first new music since her acclaimed 2022 album ‘Good Person’. ‘Good Person’ and her debut collection ‘Lady Like’ have exceeded 1.5 billion streams, leading to two Grammy Award nominations and a double-Platinum #1single in the shape of ‘More Hearts Than Mine’. She is also an in-demand collaborator, with songwriting credits including Charli xcx’s iconic ‘Boys’ and Bebe Rexha’s ‘Girl In The Mirror’. ‘Catch 22’ is a stripped back acoustic track, which creates the space for Ingrid’s naturally graceful vocal to tell a personal story. She cleverly plays on the catch 22 concept to describe a failing relationship with someone who can’t seem to grow up, still chasing the forever young feeling of being twenty-two. Listen HERE. Ingrid says, “’Catch 22’ is a song about trying to grow in a relationship that you’ve already outgrown. Love is not for the faint of heart, especially when it’s up to you to leave it behind. The song takes place in a relationship because it’s commonly the place we see it happen the most. At one point or another, we’ve all found ourselves in relationships where we love and care for someone that no longer fits. We stay and hope they will change because who doesn’t want someone to love and be loved by? And it’s never really ‘that bad.’ Until one day you wake up and want a beautiful life that’s much more than not ‘that bad’ and the only person who can change that is you.” Ingrid is back after a whirlwind year including a National Anthem performance that led to an experience in rehab and profoundly altered her perspective on her career, empowering her to return to music stronger than ever. She decided to take the comeback head-on, singing ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ once again at a recent Colorado Avalanche game in her home state, earning praise and respect for overcoming her demons. ‘Catch 22’ and ‘Footprints’ are the first songs that have emerged as Ingrid continues work on a larger scale project. Her current songwriting inspiration comes from the growth that has come with her recent experiences: the learning and confidence that comes after facing her struggles and emerging from it all the better. |
