Inferno Metal Festival 2025 Begins Today!
Inferno Metal Festival officially kicks off today 17 April 2025, in Oslo, Norway. We are proud to once again welcome metal fans from across the globe to this long-standing celebration of extreme music. This year’s edition will be particularly meaningful, as we honour the memory of Inferno founder and festival director Jan-Martin Jensen, who passed away from cancer on 10 February 2025.
Founded in 2001, Inferno is the longest-running metal festival in Norway, traditionally held during the Easter holiday — with dates varying from year to year. The festival spans four main days of concerts, in addition to a warm-up day on the preceding Wednesday. Across five days, 66 bands will perform at venues throughout Oslo.
The core of the festival takes place at Rockefeller and John Dee, with a format where concerts alternate between the two stages to ensure a seamless live experience. In addition, club shows will be held at Kniven, Vaterland, Goldie, Dattera til Hagen, and Brewgata, typically featuring emerging and underground acts.
Exact attendance numbers can vary, but with 1,550 tickets sold per day, plus additional guests and volunteers, the festival expects around 4,000–5,000 visitors throughout the Easter weekend. Tickets are nearly sold out, with only a limited number remaining for Thursday and Sunday.
Inferno is also proud to host the world’s largest metal industry conference, featuring panel discussions, instrument clinics, auctions, and more. The festival includes a visual arts programme, showcasing artists from around the world, and a tattoo section with renowned tattooists from the international scene.
This year’s edition carries particular emotional weight, as it marks the final festival planned with the involvement of Jan-Martin Jensen. As the founder of Inferno, his vision has guided the event since its inception in 2001. The 2025 edition is dedicated to his memory, and the Inferno team remains committed to continuing the festival in his honour.
