(March 20, 2025) – Canadian indie singer-songwriter Cody Lawless released a new track, “Train To Alaska,” today. The track is a dreamy pop song about longing for love. Cody says, “I wrote this song fully a capella, a pure and honest representation of the awkwardness after a breakup. For the mood of crashing out and trying to cover up lingering feelings, ‘Train To Alaska’ represents that for me.” His new album, Heaven Has a Special Place for You, will be released on April 25, 2025, and was inspired by indie acts like Felly and Pinegrove, plus modern heavy alternative bands. The album focuses on past relationships (romantic and not) and takes the listener through a journey from heartbreak to self-understanding. Amusingly, Lawless himself calls the record a “melancholy indie-alternative record but with a ‘Hey Ya’ Outkast vibe.’” Watch the self-directed video for “Train To Alaska,” below. |
