Metalcore fury ensues on In Shallows’ newest single, “Undertaker.”
The New Hampshire band’s first single from their upcoming album focuses on themes of retribution and marching ahead. Ferocious riffs meet a touch of synth; melodic moments shine but the track never relents in its intensity. Melding modern and classic metalcore elements, there’s as much influence from Polaris as there is from Attack Attack!
“Protect and survive,” growls vocalist Colin Trombley in the breakdown. Chugging guitar glitches and skips, creating disorder. When guitarist Bobby Wharton’s dissonant lead riff kicks in, it pulls everything together into a driving force.
“‘Undertaker’ relates to a time that we went through as a band in order to survive. There were some personal experiences that helped fuel the lyrics and outline the emotions we felt at that time in order to keep pushing forward and not let anything hold us back,” they said of the song’s inspiration.
In Shallows demands changes for the better on “Undertaker.” “Burn a witch at the stake / The more that you lie will desecrate the grave,” Trombley roars in the first verse.
Newest members Matt Pro & Graham Fortier are credited with pushing the band’s songwriting boundaries.

In Shallows first full-length album is expected at the end of 2025. “Undertaker” follows last year’s single “World Fire” and a sold-out show at the Worcester Palladium with Devitalized, Nailed Shut, Slamwich, and No Allegiance.

ABOUT IN SHALLOWS
In Shallows is a four piece metalcore band based out of Keene, New Hampshire. With the release of their first single “Phantom Grace” in June of 2021, the band confidently planted themselves in the heavy music scene. They quickly followed it up with a five song EP “Beneath The Surface”, that delivers in-your-face breakdowns and heavy guitar riffs. Paired with the ever so sweet mixture of scream and singing vocals, In Shallows is determined to drill their lyrics into listeners heads.
Following the success of their EP, the band was eager to push the limits a little further. They teamed back up with their producer/recording engineer Robbie Litchfield at Hell Here Studios where they recorded and released a handful of new singles which caught the attention of many new listeners.
After playing shows all around New England, the band is eager to continue reaching as many new fans as possible. With a full length album on the horizon, it’s safe to say In Shallows isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
