Today, Long Island NY based duo poptropicaslutz! share the deluxe version of their ambitious debut EP ‘just in case the world ends’ via Epitaph Records. The seven original tracks are joined by an additional five hits with sticky hooks that straddle the line of hyper-pop and punk, coined as “hyper-punk.”
In celebration of the deluxe release, poptropicaslutz! also launch the music video for “TEEN POP SENSATION”, produced by Aldrch (Midwxst, Aldn, Contradash) and mixed by Brian Moncarz (Alice Cooper, Circa Survive.) The new song uses glitchy transitions and auto-tuned harmonies paired with emo influences, from angsty guitar chord progressions to the duo’s impassioned vocal deliveries. The accompanying visual chronicles footage from their recently concluded US tour, ‘just in case the tour never ends.’ It depicts some endearing moments from life on the road, and the sense of community they found within the crowds of each city visited.

Mixed by Matt Malpass (Blink 182, MGK) the original ‘just in case the world ends’ EP is poptropicaslutz! debut project for Epitaph Records, as well as the first collection of music the band released since forming during the pandemic. The 20-year-olds channel MTV era aesthetics and Y2K pop-punk, infusing the genre with celestial synths, self-aware and reflective lyrics, and romantic themes.
“‘Just In Case The World Ends’ is a project that started during the global pandemic, as poptropicaslutz! was forming, and the “end of the world” didn’t seem so farfetched,” the New York based duo explains. “We thought about what album we’d make if it was our last chance to make one.”
Made up of 20-year-old Christian Cicillia and 21-year-old Nick Crawford, poptropicaslutz! is an authentic emo-pop group for generation Z. The band has gained traction with their lyrical authenticity and danceable-yet-angsty tunes, selling out shows where fans have been lining up for merch and photos with the duo. Genuine songwriting and a genre bending sound have earned them spots on Spotify’s coveted New Music Friday, and recognition in publications such as New Noise Magazine and Ones To Watch.
