USA 4 piece Hush Money are pleased to release their new album ‘Go Back Home’, a veritable jambalaya of southern drenched flavours born from a myriad of influences that will appeal to a wide palette making the band hard to pigeon hole. The 13 track collection is available now on CD/vinyl direct from the band HERE, being the only way to hear the album as originally intended with a raft of singles to be released digitally over a period of time.

“‘Go Back Home’ is a glimpse into the psyche that makes Hush Money who we are. We had things that needed to be said and to set the record straight about who we are as people and the values we hold dear. It’s riddled with lyrical representations of the experiences that we’ve had on our journey which we’re sure everyone can relate to.” Delving in further the band muses “There’s songs of redemption, family, love lost and found, humour in hardship, and hope through the darkest times. It’s a tapestry of our take on traditional feeling good music and storytelling that has been brought to life from the deep south for many decades.”

The opening title track sets the scene with the band wearing their hearts on their sleeves from the off. There’s juxtaposition in the dreamy ‘San Antonio Dream’ and ‘Need A Little Rain’, through to the honky tonk of ‘Sellout City’ which tells the tale of dreams being hoped for and quashed. The darker tinged ‘Bad Side’ depicts a man pushed to the breaking point set to administer his own form of backwoods justice and the tones of ‘El Paso Serenade’ would not be out of place in a hit TV show or film set in the region. “In a way we’re giving our autobiography to all but in a way we can express it best with references to the southern Appalachian region and culture and hopefully some wisdom that we’ve learnt along the way.”

The sonic diversity spooned from a large skillet of influences demonstrates that the band are no one-trick show horse and provides the listener with a body of work to suit a wide range of times and emotions. “We’re very much family people which ‘Think Back To Mama’ honours and “Steve McQueen’ is the story of the trials and victories of life in a travelling band. It offers an insight to the often unseen obstacles and internal struggles many artists face while engaging in a lifestyle that is often glamorised.” The album was recorded in live takes capturing the essence of the band at LedBelly Sound Studio in Georgia and produced by Matt Washburn (Mastodon, Norma Jean) and are taking a different approach to its release. “You may notice that the full album isn’t on streaming sites. We thought long and hard on that, took some advice and we’ll be releasing tracks individually. Music is so disposable nowadays, we want to have the album heard in full like days gone by giving it more longevity, in turn curating a catalogue digitally and buying direct from an independent band like us helps us out a heap.”

Starting from humble beginnings, hailing from Georgia in the foothills of the southern Appalachians, the band consists of brothers Seth Weaver (vocals/guitar) and Greg Weaver (vocals/drums), Caleb Logan (vocals/guitar) and Nathaniel Newberry (bass). Being notably led by three vocalists this sets them apart in their performances and provides contrast to amplify the mood of each song. Their previous releases have reached audiences not only in the US but also throughout the UK having quickly risen from playing local small town bars to venturing overseas to tour there to rave reviews in 2024 including to a rapturous ovation at the esteemed Call of The Wild festival.

“We’re here to show others there is no shame in being proud of who you are, where you come from, the experiences you’ve had, and the values you were raised with.” There’s nothing quiet about who Hush Money believes that they are and they wish to share that with all. “Be you, be proud of who you are, and celebrate the people and places that made you the person you are. We’re proud of this work, it is a true representation of who we are as musicians and people.”
