Hotline TNT by Graham Tolbert

“The clubhouse leaders of shoegaze’s new generation.” – The Guardian

“A core of superb songwriting.” – So Young

“Rich, expansive yet considered indie-rock.” – Uncut Magazine

“From the cathartic harmonies of ‘Julia’s War’ to the raw romance of ‘Candle’, there is a gritty optimism charging through the album, hitting you right in the gut and demanding you pull back the veil on past dread and expose a new outlook of forward-thinking hopefulness.” – CLASH

“Hotline TNT call back to peak noise-pop.” – Mojo

“Guitar hero epics and riffs galore are abundant across the tracklist, shortlisting Anderson alongside Mdou Moctar and MJ Lenderman as the very best 6-string Gods alive.” – The Line Of Best Fit

Last week, Hotline TNT — the New York-based band fronted by Will Anderson — released their new album, Raspberry Moon, via Third Man Records. The record has quickly garnered rave reviews from The Guardian, Rolling Stone, and more. Today, they share the video for “Where U Been?” and announce an autumn North American tour. On the heels of a frenetic rooftop record release show in Brooklyn last Friday, Hotline TNT will embark on a massive headline tour kicking off July 19th. The band’s newly announced fall North American tour will include dates in Los Angeles, Phoenix, New York, Philadelphia, and many more. As The FADER puts it, “To be a spectator at a Hotline TNT show is to be so cradled by relentless waves of healing noise.” A full list of dates is available below.

Of album closer “Where U Been”, Anderson says: “‘Where U Been?’ explores a theme that I seem to come back to again and again, fractured relationships; in this case it’s about someone I used to be very close with but no longer communicate with. Despite years apart I have some hope that one day we will reconvene and pick up where we left off, and the bygones will be bygones. Both parties have to be ready for that, and I’ve come to understand that you can’t rush people to be ready.” The song’s accompanying video was directed and edited by Connor Hargreaves with Emma Pillsbury as executive producer.

Recorded in the studio of modern D.I.Y. hero Amos Pitsch, and for the first time, written alongside a full band, Raspberry Moon is a generationally great statement of youthful wistfulness and very adult growth that also happens to be very charming and sometimes funny. Not only did Anderson cement his touring band in the studio, but he also wrote the most direct love songs of his life, winning testaments to a relationship that has seemed to change his perspective on sweetness, sincerity, life itself. Raspberry Moon is an album where Will Anderson gives himself space to fall in love with the world around him and sing as much in songs so loaded with hooks you’ll need to choose which ones to hum at any given moment.
