The genesis of “DETOX” transpired within frontman Jared Gomes’ private studio compound, where he meticulously crafted each track alongside production and songwriting partner Remy Dovianus. Renowned mixing and mastering expert Ulrich Wild (Pantera, Deftones, Static-X) lent his expertise to the project, while Jim “Taz” Evans, known for iconic concert posters for Nine Inch Nails, Ramones, Smashing Pumpkins, and Foo Fighters, provided the striking cover art and packaging.
Frontman Jared Gomes shared, “This album is a candid exploration of topics like sexuality, substance use, and a hardcore lifestyle. With more pronounced rap elements and notably heavier more thrash-oriented sound. I delve into some gritty subjects. Balancing parenthood adds a unique challenge to finding ‘alone’ time with a spouse, akin to a covert mission that must be accomplished at all costs! This album delivers what the audience has longed for without compromising artistic integrity.”
He continued, “The album’s title, ‘DETOX,’ reflects a post-pandemic period where I found myself immersed in red wine, trying to make sense of my thoughts amid the influence of various substances. At a crucial juncture, I confronted my struggles with substance abuse, making it the focal point of the album’s narrative—a topic I’m intimately familiar with: addiction.”
“DETOX” pays homage to (Hed) P.E.’s G-Punk roots, capturing the frenetic energy and signature elements of their unique sound. Ulrich Wild’s masterful mix seamlessly melds raw aggression, hip-hop influences, and hardcore vibes, delivering a sonically cohesive experience.
The album’s unfiltered, raw honesty compelled Gomes and the band to embrace their bold and provocative history, using it as a stark contrast to more politically correct releases. “DETOX” boldly extends a middle finger to mainstream conventions, echoing the rebellious spirit of past releases like 2005’s ‘Only in Amerika.’
(Hed) P.E., a G-Punk pioneer, has carved their own niche, blending punk-rock, metal, hip-hop, and reggae. With a career spanning over two decades, the band has graced stages worldwide alongside rock giants like Papa Roach and Linkin Park, hardcore legends Suicidal Tendencies, and participated in the iconic Ozzfest Tour.
(Hed) P.E. is concluding the Million Watts Tour with NONPOINT, SUMO CYCO, and VRSTY, culminating with sold-out shows at the Machine Shop in Flint, MI. The DETOX West Coast Tour kicks off in January with Johnny Richter and Stacc Styles.
