On October 3rd, Bed Bug Guru will release their debut album, Double Scoop, through Superbloom Records. Recorded live to tape with Jack Shirley at The Atomic Garden (Deafheaven, Gouge Away), the nine tracks on the album are drenched in distortion with sludgy riffs and slacker vocals. Having already shared hazy single “Bitter,” today the band follow it up with the reverb-drenched “Cut Down.” The band shouts “Don’t wanna be another cog in the machine” over intoxicating guitar and bass pushed through a myriad of pedal effects creating a sense of self-resignation. You can watch the mind-bending visualizer for “Cut Down’ HERE and stream the track HERE.
Formed in 2022 among college friends, Bed Bug Guru came together bonding over bands like DIIV, Duster, and Modern Color. Wanting to sound like a “bad trip,” the band’s output and live show drives off pedal effects and glitched out visuals. With Double Scoop being recorded live to tape, Bed Bug Guru wanted to create an immersive experience for the listener meant to scratch a certain itch in your brain.
Bed Bug Guru is Jake Knoechel – guitar and Shane Malone – bass, vocals. Drums on the record performed by Cleburne Wilson.
