HERE.‘Heartbreak Holiday’ is the kind of gloriously larger-than-life pop anthem that’s so immediate and full of sass it’s only a matter of time before it’s on the soundtrack of the next romcom phenomenon. Harriet holds nothing back as ‘Heartbreak Holiday’ captures the liberation and empowerment of forgetting your romantic woes and instead stepping confidently back into the world. While the song sounds familiar, it’s distinctive in the way that Harriet conjures genres that might not often be mixed together: sashaying pop-country attitude and infectiousness, a touch of glam-rock stomp, and the kind of sweet, swirling, yearning vocal harmonies made famous by the great girl groups of the ‘60s.
Harriet says, “‘Heartbreak Holiday’ is the eureka moment when you finally realise that there is life outside of your comfort zone. You’re ready to break your own rules and to hell with the consequences!”
Harriet wrote ‘Heartbreak Holiday’ with the track’s producer, Anders Hansson (Agnes / Benjamin Ingrosso), and country / pop songwriter Sharon Vaughn (Willie Nelson / Kenny Rogers / Reba McEntire).
‘Heartbreak Holiday’ is an enticing introduction into ‘The Outcome’. It’s a sublimely singalong, sweetly melodic, long-in-the-making second album that Harriet wrote and recorded over the course of several trips to Sweden, with a clutch of top-drawer musical collaborators who have previously worked with the likes of Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys, Celine Dion, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Kylie Minogue. It flows so naturally between moods and genres, at times echoing Karen Carpenter, Caroline King, Abba and Coldplay, but is united by Harriet’s positive songwriting style and instantly appealing voice.
Harriet’s self-released debut album was released in 2016 and quickly became a favourite at Radio 2. While there’s been sometime between albums, Harriet has nonetheless been constantly busy as an independent artist, also releasing the following year’s Deluxe Edition plus three EPs in the shape of ‘The Universal Sessions’, ‘Cover Stories’ and ‘Winter Stories’, as well as touring huge venues as guest to Michael Bolton and completing her own nationwide Piano Sessions tour. Her show at London’s Art Theatre continues ‘The Outcome’ tour, which saw her tour across the UK throughout June. Limited tickets remain available HERE.
