HERE.Hare Squead and Shauna Shadae first connected over Instagram, with both being big fans of each other’s work. Hare Squead’s Lilo Blues developed the song from a sample of T2’s bassline smash ‘Heartbroken’, which reached #2 in the UK charts in 2007. After slowing the tempo and further developing the track with co-producer Jay Pryor (Steve Aoki and Louis Tomlinson’s ‘Just Hold On’), the beat felt fresh and thrilling. Shauna’s topline provided the magic final touch, her voice brimming with sensuality and soul before showing her versatility with the dancehall bounce of the bridge. ‘Late Night Flex’quickly found its first fan when T2 gave it his blessing.
Hare Squead say, “U might catch a whine if you’re not careful. Lockdown is in the past. We tryna turn uh”.
Shauna adds, “Late Night Flex will have you calling your ex. I don’t make the rules”
‘Late Night Flex’ lights the fire for more big moments to come from both artists. Hare Squead are currently working towards the release of their debut album this autumn, and are taking their time in the studio to allow their music to reach its next level and full global potential. The duo – Lilo Blues and Tony Konstone – have already achieved over 160 million streams over three EPs and hits such as the GoldLink collab ‘Herside Story’. Hare Squead have been widely praised by GRM Daily, Noisey, Pitchfork and The Guardian for leading Ireland’s burgeoning black music scene.
A Londoner of Jamaican heritage, Shauna Shadae’s vibrant sound is infused with the passion and soul of influences as diverse as Sizzla, Jah Cure, Vybz Kartel, Etta James, Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu. ‘Late Night Flex’ lays the groundwork for her upcoming debut EP which features star names including Pa Salieu, Tion Wayne and Not3s. Her previous tracks have seen her team up with Ms Banks and IQ, leading to attention from Complex, GRM Daily and Hardest Bars.
