Hailing from New Jersey, Good Teal are creating a blend of hardcore and garage rock that’s as explosive as it is infectious. Having gained a local following with their electrifying live show, the band has released two single since forming in 2021 and now prep for their debut, self-titled release. Out August 15th, Good Teal EP was crafted meticulously by the band, self-record and produced, then mastered by Matt Filipek.
Today, Good Teal share the pulsating single “Parasites!” The track bursts with shifty riffs and odd time signatures. Vocals flow from militant verses to a melodic borderline-nostalgic state to full blown shrieking, representative to a manic state. The video for the song, directed and edited by vocalist/bassist Reg Mason, leaps from a typical band performance into a state of disorder.
On the lyrics, Mason shares:
“‘Parasites’ chronicles the pendulum of emotions we go through when we have to say goodbye to something/someone we wanted. The ‘airport’ serves as a metaphor for the place we go in our heads before we leave a relationship. The titular ‘Parasites’ represent all the small things eating us up inside that can keep us from being fully present.”
