Massachusetts’ In Contempt are crafting an unnerving blend of hardcore and grindcore that exudes with discontent. Today, the band release their third EP, Hope Is A Dead Language, out through Unbeaten Records. The seven track EP hits extremely heavy, shattering through fervent rhythms, blast beats and a clever use of vocal samples from films. Guest features come from fellow Massachusetts bands Pathogenic, Greyloch and My Hands Were Tied.

The EP kicks off strong with “A Year of Immeasurable Bullshit” featuring Pathogenic. In just over a minute the track brutally delivers a common feeling as shouts of “fuck this year” resonate. Single “Severance” builds frantic walls of sound, while the repetitiveness of “Trapped” (featuring Greyloch) gives a manic feeling. Throughout the seven songs anguished screams preside over razor sharp riffs, rapid drums, and intertwined melodies. The EP closes on a somber note as an excerpt from The Body by Stephen King speaks along the piano and guitar driven “The Wounds Never Close.”
