halfnoise’s City Talk Album is out Today via Congrats Records with Seductive New Visual for “Love & Affection” – Watch HERE |
New York, NY – 17 November 2023 – halfnoise’s new full-length studio album City Talk is out today via Congrats Records, listen via your preferred DSP HERE. Along with the LP, halfnoise has released a seductive new visual for the album’s opening track “Love & Affection” – watch HERE. Written by halfnoise’s Zac Farro (Paramore), the song and album were produced by Farro and Daniel McNeil (Mac DeMarco, White Denim) and give an obvious nod to Farro’s love of 1980’s Japanese City Pop which he credits as an influence for City Talk. “‘Love & Affection’ serves as a strong opening statement for the album by blending bold Roland synth sounds with airy wind instrumentation that might sound at home on McCartney II or David Bowie’s Young Americans.” – Nashville Scene On City Talk, Farro’s artistry and intentionality shines as he steps into the roles of songwriter, frontman, and co-producer, inviting the listener to follow him along on a night out in the city. He not only credits Japanese City Pop for the new sonic direction, he also found himself influenced by the City of Angels where most of the new album was written and recorded. Working with some very talented friends including Henry Solomon (HAIM), Jared Solomon (Remi Wolf), and Rob McCurdy (Zedd, Tate McRae, Liam Payne), Farro created an album that is as sharply composed as it is emotionally resonant. While halfnoise’s previous album, Motif, made for a dense, dutiful love letter that leaned into Farro’s own vulnerability, City Talk makes the most of mystery, instinct, and vibration. Sonically lush, transcendent, and adventurous, City Talk will undoubtedly be the soundtrack that takes you places you have yet to explore. About halfnoise Since the inception of halfnoise, Farro’s creative journey has been marked by a string of acclaimed releases, which, since 2016’s Sudden Feeling, have been put out through the label Farro founded, Congrats. However, while each release, culminating in the most recent, City Talk, ranges in sounds and references, from reggae to the Beach Boys, there is a dreaminess and danceability that is the heartbeat to all halfnoise projects, and it always comes through. |
