With his new double single “Hold On Me / Seizure”, Hamburg-based musician Hagen Brüggemann shares two more tracks from his upcoming debut album Dysthymia (out September 5, 2025). Following the quiet and reflective opener Breathe / Different, this release marks a rawer, more rock-driven side of his work.
The songs deal with rejection and recovery after hitting rock bottom. Musically, Brüggemann combines rough-edged acoustic guitar with unconventional harmonies.
“There was a time in my life when I felt the ground give way beneath my feet. Hold On Me and Seizure are how I responded to that.”

About Dysthymia
Dysthymia is an intimate journey through the years 13 to 25 in the life of Hagen Brüggemann – told across 21 songs filled with loneliness, rejection, heartbreak and the defiance of refusing to conform.
Musically, the album blends grungy guitar riffs with unconventional harmonies. Despite its 78-minute runtime, the album remains varied and offers a raw sonic landscape that shifts between fragility and rage. Each track is a slice of lived experience – sometimes quiet and vulnerable, sometimes loud and unrelenting – but always uncompromisingly honest.
About the Artist
Hagen Brüggemann first came to national attention in 2011 with a guitar performance on Wetten, dass..? He went on to perform on major stages – including Wacken Open Air and Signal Iduna Park in front of over 80,000 people – but initially chose to focus on finishing school and further developing his musical craft. Today, his focus lies entirely on his solo work: honest, unfiltered, and emotionally charged.
