Today, Connecticut alternative rock band Splitview release their new single “What You Gave.” Signed to Static Era Records, the band have been steadily making a name for themselves since emerging in 2024 with their grunge meets shoegaze sound. “What You Gave” is a sprawling five-minute track filled with dense guitars and swirling melodies that surround brooding lyrics of heartbreak. The video, directed by Paul Bourdeau, leans into the sullen feeling of the song as the band performs in a old house, haunted by past recollections of a relationship. Watch it HERE and stream HERE.

On creating the song, the band share:

“What You Gave goes over the struggles of dealing with heartbreak, and how the effects can linger even when unprovoked. This song was written in the summer of 2024, and was originally supposed to end an EP, so it’s always been a closer to us, musically and emotionally. Plans changed and so has our writing style, so it felt perfect to release this song as the final single from our first year as a band. On our side, this closes the first chapter of Splitview.”

Splitview is Erik Brzoska – Guitar and Vocals, Chris Kovacs  – Lead Guitar, Jimmy Davenport – Bass, and Max Laabs – Drums.
