About Greyson Zane: Orlando, FL based independent artist and Berklee College Of Music student, Greyson Zane, finds himself at the forefront of reinventing the way song writing has previously been manufactured. “I keep getting better at writing songs with every passing day.” Greyson Zane says on the progression of his song writing. “My taste and how I write songs is always evolving, I don’t only make music because I want to, I have to.”
Zane creates a genre spanning sound that incorporates pop-punk, rock, metal and electronic elements making for a stand-out sound. His forthcoming EP Maverick, highlights just that, “It’s an unorthodox approach to a record. Each of the six songs has its own vibe. It goes from Metal-core to Y’allternative to pop-punk to EDM inspired hard rock. I got bored of writing songs in the same genre after my first two EP’s.” Zane says regarding the EP. “Growing up a metal kid I decided to start there for this one. This EP’s cover is a skeleton shooting and destroying a disco ball. Showing that I’ve broken the norm of my own music. Anyone that loves every alternative genre will love this record.”
Having a wide range of inspirations such as Megadeth, The 1975, Rob Zombie and more, Zane takes explorative measures in singles such as “Hellbent.” “Overall, I decided on experimenting with my sound and lyrical content. I knew I wanted to go heavier and write about something that didn’t have to do with some type of relationship.” Zane says as he reflects on the upcoming single. “I’m not that afraid of death personally, but that’s what I wrote the song about. So I explored the topic and did a bunch of research along with my own feelings about it.”
Between the loss of an influential individual in his life and long lasting friendships, Zane incorporates the importance of these relationships as he journeys into songwriting. “Outside of the passing of Deedee in 2022, the woman who raised me, the most staple moment in my life for how I write music and even look at music as a whole was meeting my best friend in the entire world Noah in 6th grade.” Zane says about his insight into music. “Without each other I’m not sure where either of us would be.”
GZ has brought his electrifying live show to life by sharing the stage with names like Memphis May Fire, Escape the Fate, Bad Omens and playing the Vans Warped Tour in 2018. He shows no signs of slowing down with the upcoming release of his brand new EP, Maverick due out May 23. Hear “Hellbent” out April 8.
