Toronto’s Good Kid share their new single “Eastside,” a sharp, driving anthem built around rivalry, unresolved tension, and the uncomfortable jolt of running into someone who used to know you. Equal parts defiant and cathartic, the track captures the feeling of being misjudged and refusing to disappear because of it. Powered by punchy riffs, “Eastside” leans into confrontation without romanticising it. The song traces the moment when a former friend becomes an adversary. “I’m not going away,” the band repeat like a mantra, grounding the song in stubborn self-possession rather than revenge. “Eastside” arrives amid momentum towards the band’s long-awaited debut album, Can We Hang Out Sometime?, due 3rd April 2026. Announced in December, the record quickly racked up over 50,000 Spotify pre-saves, underscoring the depth of a fanbase that has grown largely without traditional industry machinery. In keeping with Good Kid’s innovative spirit, the band turned the “Eastside” music video into a one-of-a-kind fan experience. Through a contest, one lucky fan was animated into the story, forever immortalised in the Good Kid universe. The final cut is a frenetic, late-night labour of love that blurs the line between band and fandom, cementing Good Kid’s reputation as one of the most creative, community-driven acts today. Good Kid previously shared two videos that expand the band’s playful, world-building visual universe with lead single “Wall” earning over 1.6 million views, and the most recently “Rift” (a collaboration with massively popular director and YouTuber Ted Nivison), quickly surpassing 2 million streams across DSPs and YouTube. The band recently performed at the Streamer Awards in Los Angeles, where their set was broadcast live to millions of concurrent viewers across Twitch and YouTube, placing the band amongst the event’s impressive list of past performers and fellow digital-era music disruptors including Ty Dolla $ign, Bella Poarch, Yung Gravy, and BBNO$. Watch the performance HERE. In December, the band hosted a Twitch subathon in Los Angeles that blurred the line between live performance, community hang, and creator crossover, with appearances from Lilypichu, Albert Chang, Hachubby, and others, a reflection of how deeply embedded the band have become in the creator ecosystem. Blending the punchy riffs of J-rock, the immediacy of indie rock, and the raw edge of pop-punk, Good Kid have spent the last few years quietly building something larger than a typical band trajectory. Entirely independent, they’ve amassed hundreds of millions of streams across their catalog, a fiercely participatory fan community, and a reputation as one of the most creator-friendly projects in modern guitar music. They’ve made their entire discography Content ID-free and DMCA-free, empowering creators across Twitch, YouTube, and more to use their songs without fear of takedowns. Their songs now soundtrack everything from community-made animations to major gaming broadcasts, becoming part of the internet’s shared vocabulary. Recorded in Los Angeles with Grammy-winning producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, Wallows, Lana Del Rey), the band’s debut album Can We Hang Out Sometime? delivers the high-energy hooks and inventive riffs that have become a hallmark of their sound, while boldly pushing into new territory. Longtime fans will find the signature Good Kid bangers they’ve come to love, but also hear the band exploring fresh textures, rhythms, and sonic twists, in their grittiest offering yet. To celebrate Can We Hang Out Sometime?, Good Kid will hit the road for an extensive 2026 tour, kicking off in the Spring and winding through major cities across the US and Canada before heading overseas for some of their biggest UK and European shows to date. “CAN WE HANG OUT SOMETIME?” LP TRACKLIST: 01.
