Jack J Hutchinson releases his third single ‘Halo’ from his highly anticipated new album ‘The Hammer Falls’. The video directed by Kris Barras/Ignite Productions is a further taste of Hutchinson’s heaviest album to date which will be released February 4 via Eyesore Merch available for pre order now on CD/vinyl/bundles and digitally via Earache Records.
London UK based Jack says of the song, “I wrote the riff a while back, just after I had seen Slash on his last tour so there is a bit of a Guns n’ Roses vibe to it. However, I wrote the chorus after listening to a load of Abba in lockdown last year. I was really in the mood for some upbeat, Scandinavian pop…and so the results are a bit of a bonkers mashup of heavy rock and upbeat hooks. The aim is to put smiles on people’s faces!”
The primarily guitar driven album was co-produced by Josh Norton-Cox and band members Lazaras Michaelides (bass), Felipe Amorim (drums) and recorded at Momentum Studios Devon with additional guitar on ‘Halo’, production and mixing by Josiah J Manning (Inglorious, Kris Barras Band, Moriaty, Wille and The Bandits), alongside mastering by the Grammy award winning Stardelta (Noel Gallagher).
Enthusing about his latest collection of stories, ”We’ve thrown everything but the kitchen sink at this record. It’s a step up from my previous albums both in terms of songwriting but also production. We tracked most of the songs live in a room together, which was really important to the ethos of the sound.”
“It’s my most personal record to date, but it touches on wider themes such as mortality and loss which affect us all.” muses Jack reflecting upon a period of time which was challenging for all walks of life, “It’s hard hitting, rammed with heavy riffs and guitar solos, but with lyrics and melodies that will hopefully touch and move people. It’s a banger, the songs are fun to play and have gone down very well on tour!”
The exuberant and crowd pleasing frontman guitarist has toured internationally in Brazil, Spain, Russia, France and Germany to great acclaim and festival appearances include Planet Rock Rockstock, BluesFest at the O2 Arena and Ramblin’ Man Fair amongst many and is heading out on UK tour to celebrate the album release. “The new album is the heaviest music I have ever written, with big riffs and choruses that are perfect for massive crowds. Besides returning to venues who have been really supportive of me, London is a special place for me as it is where I really developed my career as a musician and to launch the record at O2 Islington upon the eve of its release will be really special.”
