SECRET SPHERE Blackened Heartbeat
Secret Sphere are considered one of the pioneers of the Italian Power Metal scene, still proudly flying the flag for the movement alongside contemporaries such as Labyrinth and Rhapsody Of Fire. Led by guitarist and producer Aldo Lonobile since 1999, the band have consistently delivered the goods. ‘Blackened Heartbeat’ is the group’s tenth album and proudly shows off their heaviest aspects, while also being the fastest record of their career; a riot of intricate drum patterns, technical and heavy guitar works, majestic orchestrations and the unique vocal tone of original singer Roberto Ramon Messina, who rejoined the group in 2021.

IGNESCENT Fight In Me
A dynamic Chicago-based hard rock outfit fronted by singer Jennifer Benson, ‘Fight In Me’ is the group’s debut album and includes songs co-written with Sameer of Flyleaf, Jeremy Valentyne and Brandon Wolfe of New Years Day, and more. They have a contemporary metal sound akin to Flyleaf, Evanescence, Jinjer and Skillet, and have released several singles and an EP to date that include 2022’s ‘Remnant’, which made the Billboard Rock Chart and is included on an EP entitled ‘Ascension’.

CARE OF NIGHT Reconnected
Swedish AOR/melodic rockers Care Of Night add a distinctive modern touch to an otherwise classic 80s sound, with strong hooks, massive arrangements and a progressive twist at the core of their approach. An acclaimed 2015 debut album, ‘Connected’, saw the group compared to titans Journey, FM and Toto, with a triumphant set at the Rockingham festival that year cementing their popularity. A second album, ‘Love Equals War’ (2018), was similarly well received, while recent line-up changes have seen them re-emerge reinvigorated, tighter and stronger than ever, touting a new album that is an absolute blast of melody from start to finish.

The first album since 2020 by the Italian progressive metal masters led by Simone Mularoni, ‘Life’ sees him whittle down a wealth of new material into an opus that clearly demonstrates his desire to push the group beyond any previous boundaries. All the trademark elements of their sound can be heard, with sweeping choruses, technical passages, lightning-fast fretwork, huge vocals and bombastic transitions, but the care taken on the songwriting emerges in phenomenal music that encompasses everything from the heaviest progressive metal to a more classic hard rock sound. The playing is faultless and the melodies are perfectly woven into killer guitar lines, epic keyboards and pounding drums from a group line-up that is more cohesive than ever. Not only the finest prog metal band in Italy, DGM are also a force to be reckoned with on the international scene.

SEVENTH CRYSTAL Infinity EP
This digital EP follows the much praised ‘Wonderland’ album by the Swedish melodic hard rockers issued in early 2023. The band reveal that “the songs actually came about while we were recording the album, but we felt that they had a life of their own and therefore deserved a special place. We are as proud of this EP as we are of the album.” Seventh Crystal was put together by singer Kristian Fyhr (Perpetual Etude/Ginevra) and debuted in 2021 with the album ‘Delirium’, while ‘Wonderland’ expanded on its 21st century genre sonic template. Containing a fistful of new songs with strong melodies and huge choruses, ‘Infinity’ is a must hear for all fans of modern melodic hard rock.
