“Modern life is hard to handle for many of us – going to an unperfect work everyday, wanting to have the perfect life, wanting to show the best of our lives on social media,” say French hardcore band Alea Jacta Est, when talking about the fuel behind new single ‘Le Club’. “Some can’t handle it and go to a fight club to purge the rage from their minds. ‘Le Club’ is the soundtrack to that. People turning their mental frustration into physical exertion in the gym. Join the club & empty yourself in the ring. You’ll learn to love yourself, as you are, without artifice.”
Alea Jacta Est formed in Toulouse nearly 20 years ago and are known for their energetic live performances and “metal with a punk rock mentality and a hardcore attitude” for fans of Hatebreed, Terror & Madball. The band say “Our influences are a mix of History with a capital H, cheesy 90s action movies, and the video games that go along with them, as well as US hardcore.” The quintet have released several albums, including ‘Gloria Victis’ (2010), ‘Vae Victis’ (2014), and ‘Dies Irae’ (2017), with titles all in-keeping with the Latin moniker of the band, which is a phrase originally attributed to Julius Caeser, translating as “the die is cast”. Expect a new album in 2026.
