For the past three years, Paris, France based Mascara have been in an era of renewal, working on their most honest material yet and reflecting on everything they’ve lived and lost since forming the band in 2019. With new single “Nova Ador,” out today through Fever Ltd., Mascara has taken the well-received heavy shoegaze sound of their three EPs and transformed into into a fuller, cathartic, and visceral release. Powerful guitars break into a reverb-drenched soundscape strewn with impassioned vocals that project a feeling of detachment. Influence from acts like Deftones, Nothing, and Godflesh creep through the track, but a raw originality conveys on the single created with long-time producer Clément Decrock.

On the track, the band expands:

“‘Nova Ardor’ is like an explosion of light in the dark, a spark of passion that refuses to die out. The song is a call to break free from the illusion of freedom that keeps us caged, and to stand up for what truly matters. It’s also deeply personal: a reflection on becoming a father in a collapsing world, carrying the weight and responsibility of that choice while still believing in the possibility of change.”
