Last month, Charleston, SC based post-hardcore/noise rock hybrid Florida Man announced their new album, Plastique, set for release on April 4th through The Ghost Is Clear Records. Having shared the snarling, industrial-tinged “Dot Gov” and grooved out “El Rey”, today the band reveal another dimension of their revamped sound with the hook-laden new single “The House.” The bouncy riffs and singalong chorus of “The House” are instantly infectious, with Jim O’Connor’s wry vocal bouts centering around the ongoing saga of a deadbeat recent divorcee. Fans who appreciate the energy of bands like Drug Church and Militarie Gun will be drawn to the punchy melodic choruses and start/stop rhythms of “The House.” The tongue-in-cheek, home movie style video for the song shows O’Connor marking the various locations where the song’s protagonist struggles to relive their glory days and keep up with the mundanity of everyday life alone and can be watched HERE.

Plastique is a glossy collection of 9 songs that transports the band’s foundational sound of razor sharp riffs, fuzzy bass, and maniacal vocals into new territories of electronic experimentation, percussion ensembles, earworm chorus hooks, and more. The record follows Florida Man’s buzzy 2109 album Tropical Depression and 2017 self-titled debut.

Drums and bass on Plastique were recorded in Charleston, SC at Coast Records with Matt Zutell, Guitars in Clinton, CT at The Radar Studio with Will Benoit, and vocals self-recorded at a cabin in the middle of the woods in St. Matthews, SC. The album was mixed by Taylor Young at The Pit and mastered by Nick Townsend at Infrasonic Sound.

Plastique is available for preorder on vinyl through The Ghost Is Clear Records.

The band will celebrate on April 4th with an album release show at The Royal American in Charleston, SC with support from Mids and Pure Pleasure.

Florida Man is Andrew Barnes – guitar/keys+samples/vocals, CJ DeLuca – bass/vocals, Jim O’Connor – lead vocals, and Jonathan Peace – drums.
