Charleston, SC based punk/hardcore/noise rock hybrid Florida Man make their return with new single “El Rey” out now. The track rides on an intense, latin-driven drum and bass groove met with fuzzed out effects. An unhinged vocal delivery from Jim O’Connor depicts fictional lyrics of a conning politician and a shout of “I was built to make you dance” that sinks into your brain. The band give a feverish performance in a video created by guitarist Andrew Barnes, which you can watch HERE.

Originally formed in 2017, Florida Man debuted with their self-titled album, quickly garnering a following in the southeast. In 2019, the band released their buzzy sophomore album Tropical Depression, receiving praise from Revolver, NPR, BrooklynVegan and more. As the pandemic hit and touring plans came to a halt, so did the uncertainty if the band would continue. Fast forward to now and Florida Man is feeling a sense of renewal, crafting their best and most creative material yet.

Florida Man is Andrew Barnes – guitar/keys+samples/vocals, CJ DeLuca – bass/vocals, Jim O’Connor – lead vocals, and Jonathan Peace – drums.
