Birmingham’s Flesh Creep are a band that take the personal rage of the injustices seen around them and use it as fuel to spark positive change within their community. Their debut album We Need You To Bleed was re-released this year via Music For Nations as an 11 track manifesto to eviscerate society’s ills, clocking in at 22 minutes. If their debut album was the band calling out the injustices around them, then their forthcoming new EP Glimmer, which is out today, is an example of them doing the inner work necessary for the strength to stand for something.

A much more introspective release than their debut, Glimmer delves into personal loss (‘Glimmer’), the uncomfortable role as a “frontman” (‘Straight Flush’), Facebook misinformation echo chambers (‘Flake’) and much more while exploring their true voice as a band by delving into more diverse sonics than ever before. With each member of the band taking the lead on the songwriting process of various songs, the EP builds upon the aural foundations laid on their debut album, while tweaking the formula to optimise each track’s effect. Comparatively slower than We Need You To BleedGlimmer’s pace allows more space for targeted emotion to permeate over blind rage, stretching dynamics to greater extremes and rejecting convention in favour of feeling. Flesh Creep’s music is no less burning or vital on Glimmer, it’s just that each punch lands harder with renewed focus.

On the EP, Jack says:
“If the re-release of WE NEED YOU TO BLEED was a reintroduction of ourselves on a larger scale, Glimmer is a personal conversation telling you who we are. It’s the most exposed and vulnerable we’ve been as a band, using real-life experiences like the death of a parent (“Glimmer”), the unwarranted pedestals performers get put on (“Straight Flush”) or the embodiment of mental health disorders (“Optics”).

We recorded the EP with the aim of skirting the line between high quality production and raw performances – preserving the human touch. The EP as a whole challenges and plays with the tension of music as a commodity in 2026, and how we consume it. Like previous releases, the EP is littered with references and easter eggs, ranging from pro wrestling heels to 1970s Punk… for keen ears the very last thing on the EP is a trailer for our next release. We’re messy people with messy songs and messy albums, we’re not trying to give you perfection or bullshit. We’re giving you who we are.”

In essence, Glimmer follows a wider ethos for Flesh Creep’s sweat-soaked vision for punk and hardcore; unity within the rage against societal flaws and the idea that when we are united, we are stronger, but in order to be united, we have to be strong within ourselves. With Glimmer Flesh Creep are experimenting with their own intense formula, exploring new avenues and broadening the horizons of one of the UK’s most exciting emerging heavy bands. Merely a glimpse into the potential of Flesh Creep, Glimmer sees the boldest evolution yet of a group that will never stop confronting the difficult questions head on, creating incredible, incendiary art and hoping to see a better world both personally and collectively in the process.

Glimmer is available out now on limited run CD recycled digipak, and a pink & blue bubblegum 12” vinyl. Both formats are available on the Flesh Creep merch store HERE.
