This September Scotland’s oldest metal festival, Hordes X, returns to Dundee for its 16th edition! On Friday 18th and Saturday 19th Hordes X will takeover the Hidden and Music Hall Dundee venues, for two incredible days of performances from some of metal’s most exciting bands – from established names to new bands starting to make waves on the scene. There will be Scottish exclusives, Scottish debuts, Dundee debuts – all making Hordes X an unmissable event.
Hordes X have already announced three magnificent bands from this year’s line-up – De Profundis, Cnoc An Tursa and Owlcrusher – and these kings of the underground have now been joined by Ramage Inc., Saħħar, At Their Mercy, Chekhov’s Gun, and Bruxa!
Ramage Inc., Scotland’s greatest secret weapon in monolithic prog metal, are returning to action after some time away from the spotlight. The band are no strangers to festival stages, having previously appeared at Prog Power Europe, Bloodstock and Download, making them ideal second stage headliners for Hordes X 2026. Saħħar, a veteran of the Maltese metal scene, will be flying in to perform in Scotland for the first time ever, ready to deliver his unique take on black metal – inspired by local folklore, the nature of death and anti-religious sentiment. He has performed alongside bands such as Destroyer666, Gothminister and Mayhem and last month released new opus, Miġja ta’ Moħħ Miġnun, on Time To Kill Records. Saħħar issue the following ominous statement regarding his appearance at Hordes X…

Stalwarts of the Scottish music scene, At Their Mercy, purveyors of hard hitting, rapid-fire, crossover thrash, are primed and ready for their Hordes X debut. Their last album their last album, Catechism, was described by Maximum Rock N Roll as “a fusion of relentless aggressive music” so be ready for furious, filthy hardcore/thrash intensity. Chekhov’s Gun – Scotland’s 2026 Metal 2 The Masses winners – aren’t your usual metal band…’Avant-garde’ barely even covers it. Replete with violin, cello and sometimes ballet/ballroom dancing, this young capital city crew deliver a stage show which needs to be seen. With their last EP, The Carnivorous, barely over a year old and another record already in the works, we’re bound to hear some fresh delights at their first Hordes X appearance. Hordes X always aims to deliver something special with the opening band of the festival and Edinburgh’s Bruxa are no exception. Bruxa are a fairly new band, but their time on the scene has been well served in other projects, and built up to something nasty! Pulling contributors from acts such as Marobaki, Ophanim, Geckohead, and Liquid Fear, the result is a vitally noxious concoction of thrash/death/extreme/noise metal. This lot will kick off the main day in fiery fashion and they can’t wait to light the fuse on Hordes X…
