The Berlin based three-piece Final Stair is excited to announce the launch of their new single and lyric video Back To Throne, ahead of their debut album Hope, which is set for release later this year via Sonic Grit.
Back To Throne explores the fantastic world populated by legends and stories from the Middle Ages. The track revolves around the fascination of kings who have been overthrown and return, glorious, to their thrones.
The band comments: “This song describes overconfidence and the danger of falling very low as a result. You always meet people who believe that they know and can do everything. Because of their delusion, they no longer see how reality becomes an illusion. Criticism is no longer taken seriously and they only want to see the best and the most beautiful. Since there is a complete lack of self-reflection, they can no longer get out of their self-created world unless they find the courage to see and to admit it.
Musically, the song is inspired by blues and stoner rock. The bands of the 70s also play a major role. We just wanted to create a heavy but also driving song that reflects a certain arrogance and overconfidence.
In addition to music, our passion for reenactment plays a major role in our lives. It’s like time travel. Any modern communication such as mobile phones or the Internet is irrelevant. You live completely with nature and are exposed to all weather conditions. Waking up early in the morning dew to the rising sun is a priceless experience. We only focus on the essentials and live very minimalistically for this short time. This experience is a great inspiration for us and our music.”
Back To Throne, follows from the previous single Dreamhunter, which showcased the band’s songwriting skills and was built on an intricate web of sonic layers that seamlessly move through time with heavy riffs and pounding drums, whilst being guided by the gritty vocals of singer Istvan.
About Final Stair
Berlin is known for many things, though save for a few names like Tangerine Dream, Rammstein and Atari Teenage Riot, rock music hasn’t necessarily always been one of them. It’s something that German trio Final Stair are planning to change, who’ve found great inspiration in the wonderfully war-torn, visually imperfect and often hedonistic surroundings they’ve grown up around. Formed by twin brothers Istvan and Denes Vörös in 2012, with current drummer André Seidel joining in 2016, this is a band who want to celebrate the intoxicating light and darkness around them through thunderous groove and soaring chorus hooks…The band have honed their craft and built a loyal fanbase in Germany (helped by previous single “Over The Top” being used extensively on the Netflix show “Cable Girls”). The trio will be releasing their debut album, titled Hope, via their own Sonic Grit label later this year. The music was recorded by the members themselves in their own rehearsal facility, a place where they could dictate their own rate of progress and painstakingly boil down a broad list of influences into the core fundamentals that made them unique. With tracks like Dreamhunter (“a big fuck you to everyone who ignored us”), Never Felt Before (“an old song that represents our grunge roots”) and Morning Dew (“one of our biggest hooks”) touching on the anthemic greatness of Queens Of The Stone Age, Biffy Clyro and The Killers in ways that feel completely fresh and new, Hope will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the finest rock debuts of its year…
