Experimental indie-psych band MOUNTAIN MOVERS release instrumental album, Knifethrowers, out on Redscroll Records

Since debuting in 2009, Connecticut psych band MOUNTAIN MOVERS have delivered a lengthy discography floating through rich textures and experimental sounds. Today, the group release their new instrumental album, Knifethrowers, out through Redscroll Records. On the record, the band build from the sounds of 2024’s double album Walking After Dark, while trading in vocals for synths, keys, percussion, and drum machines. Self-recorded and mastered by John Miller, Knifethrowers sprawls five tracks with a run time of nearly 42 minutes. The songs came together as free jams and were recorded live to a Tascam 488 with no overdub. The album captures a journey through time and the changing of the seasons.

The band expand:

“The opener ‘In the Tall Grass’ sets a late-summer, early-fall vibe. ‘Killing Frost’ hits on that first freeze of the year when we brace for the cold. Now that we are inside more, it’s natural to be, as the last track on side A says, ‘Floating In A Room.’ On Side B, we kick off a late-night walk, aka howl, to find the ‘Gift At the Summit.’‘ Finally, we arrive at our destination– the magical ‘Blue Fort.’”

Knifethrowers is available now through Redscroll Records and Bandcamp.

Mountain Movers is Dan Greene, Rick Omonte, Kryssi B., and Ross Menze.
