Electric Valley Records presents Las Historias’ House of Pain, a demo release that serves as a foretaste of the heavy psych group’s forthcoming second full-length. Scheduled for 02 August, House of Pain, will be released on vinyl and digital.
Originating from Córdoba, Argentina, Las Historias is a power trio that melds the stratospheric guitar madness of Jimi Hendrix and the bluesy psychedelia of the ‘60s with the heavy riffs of doom and stoner luminaries.
Formed in 2018 as a duo when singer/multi-instrumentalist Tomas settled in Córdoba City and met drummer Juan, Tomas brought experience from several projects in Laboulaye, Córdoba. This background inspired him to experiment and evolve his sound. The lineup was completed in 2019 with the addition of bassist Manuel.
Las Historias’ first offering was their four-track self-titled EP, released in April 2020. With the addition of a new track exclusively for a vinyl release via Electric Valley Records that same year, the band revamped it as their debut album. The record, drenched in a world of strange sensations, delivers a tidal wave of trippy mayhem.
Four years after the release of their self-titled LP, following a journey of experimenting with new sounds, a modified lineup, and a few live sessions and singles, Las Historias is on their way to recording a new album. As a preview, the Argentine group recorded a demo album titled House of Pain. The tracks on the demo may not alter the DNA of psychedelic rock, but they manifest a band finding a raw, meditative sonic milieu of their own—partly hazy, partly energetic, and full of excitement.
All tracks were recorded with only two SM57 microphones, except “The Way I Am” and “Nomad,” which were captured with just one mic as they were the last songs composed and are the first takes. Informs Tomas: “After that I lost my guitar so I couldn’t continue recording … tragic story but I will get that beautiful Stratocaster back!”
Las Historias is also planning live dates for the end of the year.
