Eidola, who recently announced their new album Mend out 17th January 2025 via Rise Records, the Salt Lake City-based band’s follow-up, and counterpoint to the 2024 album Eviscerate, have shared a second single from the 13-track album with today’s release of “Prodigy” and an accompanying video. Watch the video for “Prodigy” HERE or by clicking the image below.
“’Prodigy’ is about pursuing your passions to the highest extent possible while navigating the self-doubt and ego trip that comes along with it,” Andrew Michael Wells, shares. “It’s a message for anyone who’s ever had a dream in life and argued with the voices in their head telling them they should quit. The song is a dialogue between a creator and their own inner monologue telling them they’re not enough or they’re way too much. In the context of Eidola, it’s the final time we break the fourth wall and present an overture about the psychological journey it took to get where we are now.” The clip, directed by Wells and bandmate Sergio Medina, features Wells on a motorcycle, with the album cover eidola riding along as a playful passenger, ribbing Wells about his hair and encouraging a visit to Dave & Buster’s. While Eviscerate delved into darker themes of loss, grief, and despair, Mend explores redemption and healing against a more melodic and uplifting musical canvas. This dynamic duality, representing both light and dark, speaks to the band’s exploration of the human condition in all of its complexity. Produced by Stephan Hawkes (Chelsea Grin, American Me) and recorded in North Hollywood, Calif., the album promises a fresh evolution for the Salt Lake City-based band.
