Newcastle instrumental four-piece Dutch Elm have announced their self-titled debut album, set to be released on June 5 via Ripcord Records and to mark the occasion, they’ve unveiled the lead single “Tell Him Not To Bother,” now streaming via Heavy Blog Is Heavy. Blending intricate, pedal-driven guitars with a powerful and dynamic rhythm section, Dutch Elm operate in the space between post-rock and math-rock, balancing atmospheric restraint with explosive, cathartic release. Speaking on the track, Heavy Blog Is Heavy commented: “Operating in the vein of energetic, momentum driven post-rock that I love so much, Dutch Elm makes music that lands firmly in that good sleepmakeswaves / And So I Watch You From Afar territory.” Listen to “Tell Him Not To Bother” here. Formed in 2016, the band have steadily refined a sound built on layered guitar work, shifting time signatures, and a keen sense of dynamics, weaving moments of quiet tension with surging crescendos. Their compositions also incorporate subtle samples touching on environmental and political themes, adding depth and context to their instrumental framework. With their debut full-length, Dutch Elm, the band present a sharper and more focused evolution of their sound, retaining their signature energy while pushing further into expansive, textured territory. If “Tell Him Not To Bother” is any indication, Dutch Elm are set to deliver a debut that is both introspective and explosive, equally suited for deep listening and full-volume immersion.
