August 2, 2024: Aussie punk rockers Dune Rats have today released their fifth studio album, ‘If It Sucks, Turn It Up’, their most adventurous musical statement yet. It finds them evolving their sound and honing their melodic instincts across a diverse range of styles, all delivered with the energy and infectious humour that is unmistakably Dunies. “We wanted to make an album that throws you around a bit, like you are being washed around in the surf,” Dune Rats singer and guitarist Danny Beus says. “We’re five albums in now so we knew it should be a record that shows all the different sides to the band.” Featuring the full throttle ‘Be Like You’, the hypnotic ‘Solar Eyes’ and the eclectic smorgasbord that is ‘Cheapskate’ paving the way, the title track and album opener ‘If It Sucks, Turn It Up’, sets the album up perfectly with it’s full tilt punk rock spirit. The video for ‘If It Sucks, Turn It Up’ is a stop motion creation directed and animated by Callum Scott-Dyson (Dinosaur Jr, Milky Chance), check it out below. |
