DOUR share new single “Towers” from debut album AGORA out 26th of June

Vancouver’s DOUR today share “Towers,” the second single from their debut album AGORA, due 26th June.

Where lead single “Neophiliac” opened the album with claustrophobic tension and the flattening of identity in a screen-saturated world, “Towers” moves inward. The song explores the experience of self-imposed isolation – the way modern life, with its rising costs and endless leisure at one’s fingertips, can quietly become a form of imprisonment. As vocalist Zak Salehian has written of the track: “Modern days have us in hibernation within human terrariums. We begin to isolate and curl into what becomes the most unique and advanced form of imprisonment. We create our own cells, as well fashion the key.”

The song does not offer resolution. It identifies the cures that exist – a return to open air, to nature, to clarity – while acknowledging that the pull back to the tower remains. “Towers is not a hopeful response to this problem,” Salehian explains. “It’s identifying programmed mental illness, and a cyclical terror we all now share. The message is dire and is an outcry for liberation.”

Across AGORA, DOUR sketch a stark view of contemporary life, shaped by technological saturation, social detachment, and the erosion of self. The record was written and recorded with an earlier incarnation of the band, including bassist Gabe Jacob Ferman, who passed away before its release. Rather than leaving the songs behind, DOUR have chosen to release them as they were intended, preserving that creative partnership and giving the work a life beyond the room where it was made.

Since the album was completed, the band has evolved into a new lineup – a close-knit collective whose shared sense of purpose extends beyond the music itself. Their live shows have grown alongside this, becoming less about replication and more about reinterpreting the material in light of who the band is now.

DOUR first emerged with their 2025 EP Rudiments and have since shared stages with acts including CHALK, DZ Death Rays, Omni, Friko, Art d’Ecco, and Tropical Fuck Storm. Lead single “Neophiliac” marked their first support from Alternative Press, The Line of Best Fit, Under The Radar, DIY Magazine, and Northern Transmissions.

AGORA is out June 26th.
