Dinosaur Pile-Up – Love’s The Worst (Official Audio)

Dinosaur Pile-Up have dropped their latest single, ‘Love’s The Worst‘, taken from their first new album in six years, ‘I’ve Felt Better‘, which will be released on 22 August via Mascot Records. You can listen to the track HERE.

Love’s The Worst wrings arena-ready pop-punk triumph from the pain and anger of being cheated on in a previous relationship that had to die for his true love to flourish.

Talking about the song Matt Bigland shares, “Cards on the table. I wrote “Love’s The Worst” after getting broken up with (cool thing #1), on my birthday (cool thing #2), during lockdown (cool thing #3) and then realizing that the person who had just split up with me had actually gotten back with their ex for a week or two already whilst we were still together (cool thing #4). It’s fair to say that making that realization really sucked! Lyrically, ‘LTW’ is a pretty direct song, and I think it captures really well the frustration and hurt that comes with having your heart trodden on pretty good. But hey, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”

The single is the latest in the lead-up to their highly anticipated new album and sees them gearing up to hit the road again with a five-date UK headline tour in September, as well as an extensive tour of the US with A Day to Remember and Yellowcard from 22 October to 22 November.

The harrowing experience Matt Bigland went through when hospitalized with ulcerative colitis in critical care is one part of his story. Adjusting to life back home came with several challenges. But, a recurring shining light of DPU in 2025 is the word ’empowerment’. Channelling the worst of times into gold nugget after gold nugget, on I’ve Felt Better, they released some of the most potent songs they have ever written.

If you’ve been rock bottom and found the strength to pull yourself up into the daylight, you can see hope, and since the release of their comeback single ‘Bout to Lose It, fans have rejoiced at their return. The barnstorming “My Way” is a hip-hop-inflected ode to staying true to oneself and staying angry at a twisted modern music industry. At the same time, “Big Dogs” is a gleeful takedown of ass-backwards celebrity freebie culture, and “Sick of Being Down” is essentially a post-traumatic existential breakdown articulated as a 3-minute garage punk rock song.

Ultimately, this album seeing the light of day is a huge part of Matt’s happily ever after. Striking up a relationship online during the hardest time of his life with Karen Dió of Brazilian punks Violet Soda was a shard of gold in a sea of grey.  After a promise to himself that marrying Karen would be his reward for pulling through, he realized that in 2022, the pair relocated to St Leonards on England’s south-east coast.

Matt is more focused on work, home, and life’s simple pleasures than he has ever been. And all that has underlined why music matters. “I’m proud that we’re still here as a band at all,” he says. “I’m proud that I’m still here as a person. And I’m just so stoked that I’m still able to make music. That’s what I want to do. That’s why I’m here…”
