Derby Southern-rockers These Wicked Rivers release new track and video ‘Lonely Road’ in celebration of their month-long tour with Hayseed Dixie, which commences this week! The track is available via all streaming platforms as well as on physical CD at shows. Showcasing a different side to the band, the track combines a single stripped back, acoustic guitar with haunting vocals and delicate strings. It is accompanied by a video shot at the historic Bishton Hall in Staffordshire. Speaking about the process of writing the song, singer John Hartwell says: “Lonely Road was inspired by an intense feeling of isolation during the first lockdown, coupled with missing a recently broken down relationship. Weirdly, I usually take a long time constructing songs, thinking of the perfect way to phrase each line. With this song, I just picked up my guitar and played.” Established in 2014, These Wicked Rivers are Derby’s entry to the new wave of rock and roll that is sweeping across the United Kingdom. Drawing influences from the likes of Black Stone Cherry and Rival Sons, the band have made quite an impact since their inception. The release follows a busy summer for These Wicked Rivers, which saw them in the studio working on the follow up to their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Eden’, as well as playing standout performances at festivals across the country including Steelhouse and Stonedead Festival, building a rapidly growing “family” of devoted followers across the UK.
With new music from Eden’s highly anticipated follow-up (due early 2023) being premiered at live shows, be sure to catch the band on their most extensive tour to date this Autumn!
